As long as people behave the way they do (see: magical thinking, personal fable, risk-taking behaviors), then emergency department & trauma center clinicians will always be in demand. We would not be as busy as we are if the only traumatic injuries we dealt with were truly just "accidents". Some say it's Darwinism at its finest; I just say it's job security.
